Solar power and water pumping A solar powered recycled electric DC motor from a computer drive is used to run a simple pump recycled from a washing machine. Water is pumped from a tin bucket with a false bottom through a garden tap back into the bucket. Something about the tin bucket and garden tap arrangement distracts people from realising there is a false bottom to the bucket and creates a good deal of curiousity. Standing in from of the panel or shading individual cells on the panel slows the pump down dramatically and clear demonstrates the energy source is the sun.
